Automatic Fill (Bobtail)

Our scheduled, automatic fill system is designed to provide you with efficient, reliable and convenient propane gas service. If your tank is filled on our scheduled monthly delivery, and prompt payments are made, you should never run out of propane. Propane tanks are available in a variety of sizes. The tank placed at your home should provide you with more than enough gas for approximately 30 days during the heating season. Estimating your gas consumption is not an exact science so it's important that you monitor your use closely for the first few months. (See Watch your gauge)

We will come to your home approximately once every 4 to 6 weeks during the heating season and fill your tank to full (80%) capacity. Customers using gas for hot water heaters will also be checked once during the summer. Our driver will leave a ticket after each delivery in which you can pay the driver or you can mail payment within 30 days. The ticket shows: the number of meter gallons delivered. For your protection, the State of North Carolina checks propane meter accuracy.

If, for any reason outside the company's control, including failure to meet our credit policy, the driver is unable to fill your tank during his normal scheduled visit to your home or place of business, and you subsequently request an unscheduled delivery, there will be a Special Trip Charge of $45.00 ($75.00 on weekends & holidays) to compensate for our additional expense.

Watch Your Guage! (Tank)

Even with the best planning, we know that propane use can vary based on different factors. On some rare occasions, you may run low on gas before our scheduled delivery. To protect against possible "out of gas" situations, most tanks have gauges to monitor the propane level. The gauge reading represents a percentage. For example, in a 250-gallon tank, a 20% reading means the tank has approximately 50 gallons of propane left. Even under extreme cold conditions, 20% capacity should last five to six days.

Our goal is to have zero out of gas calls. There is an important way you can help us reach this goal. If the gauge reads 20-25%, call us. We have a voice mail system available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. To alert us of a low tank gauge reading call our office at 338-1900 with the current reading. A current & accurate reading is important for us to determine the urgency of a delivery. We will schedule an off route delivery if necessary. Due to the high cost of unscheduled deliveries, out of gas calls may be subject to a special trip charge of $45.00 Monday thru Friday and $75.00 on weekends.

Equipment

When we began your service, we supplied you with a tank, pressure regulator, fittings, and some piping, at no cost. This equipment will remain our property and you will be responsible for any loss or damage other than normal wear. The authorized agents or employees of Albemarle Propane shall have free access at all reasonable times to our property on your premises for the purpose of inspecting, removing, repairing or filling any Albemarle Propane property.

For Safety reasons no part of our equipment (tank, pressure regulator and outside piping) may be enclosed by the property owner in any way that would prevent access to the tank. Similarly, you may not take any actions or erect any structure, which would impede or prevent the removal of our property from your premises. Should you erect or install any physical impediment to the removal of our equipment, you will bear the full cost of eliminating, removing or moving such impediment, as well as the cost of any restoration necessary if we should have to remove our equipment.

Minimum Purchase

While this policy affects only a very small minority of our customers, we must require minimum propane use to recoup our equipment investment. Your required minimum use is 1½ times the gallon capacity of your tank. For example, if you have 100 gallon tank, you must use at least 150 gallons of propane from May 1st to the following May 1st. If you have not met the minimum use we will bill you for a yearly tank rental fee according to the tank size

Neighbor-to-Neighbor Referral

You get a $10 coupon off your gas bill if someone you refer to us becomes a customer. Lots of our customers hear about our propane service from friends and neighbors. They like the way propane saves money. They also like the service they get by dealing with a locally owned company that cares about the community. When you tell others about our service, we want to show our appreciation. Ask them to mention your name and we will send you a coupon.

Appliance Discount

For all existing customers we now offer a 10% discount on appliance purchases all year long.
