Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is Propane?Propane (also known as Liquefied Petroleum Gas of LP gas) is a member of a family of chemical compounds called hydrocarbons. Propane is derived from crude oil and natural gas and is stored under pressure as a liquid. When propane is released from its pressurized tank, it is odorless, tasteless, and colorless. An odorant is added to the product to serve as a warning if the gas is escaping. The smell is recognizable due to the uniqueness of it. Although propane gas is non-toxic, it is heavier then air and will, if released in a confined space, displace the air that contains oxygen. Propane is a safe, reliable fuel when stored and used properly. It has been called the world's most versatile fuel and rightly so. It will do everything that natural gas will do and because it can be stored and moved, even more. Do you have a watchdog/keep full service?Yes this how we serve almost all of our customers. Under most circumstances there is no need to call us to order a delivery. Please read Automatic Fill (Bobtail) in the Policies section. What do I do if I smell gas?Gas appliances, equipment and service lines are built and installed in accordance with the latest federal and state standards. However, it is possible through misuse or accident to have a leak. For your protection, a harmless chemical is added to propane gas to give it a distinctive odor. If you smell gas, follow your nose to the source. It could be a pilot light that's out or a burner valve partially turned on…. Something easily corrected. Remember, propane is heavier than air, so odor will be strongest closer to the floor. If the source of the odor cannot be located, or if the odor persists, call us for assistance. For emergency service, someone is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Do you charge tank rent?As long as you use 1½ times the capacity of your tank per season. For example, if you have a 100 gallon tank, you must use at least 150 gallons.
How do I know if I need gas?Watch Your Gauge. If the reading on your tank gauge gets to 20-25% and we have not automatically delivered, please call the office. This gives us plenty of time to deliver before you run out of gas. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have a question that is not addressed here. |
